MOWC is a nonprofit that brings military spouses together through fun events that build friendships and strengthen the ties within our community. Years ago, the club created the Krewe of CAMAN — representing all five services: Coast Guard, Army, Marines, Air Force, and Navy — to make sure our military members could fully experience the magic of Mardi Gras.

Each year, we host a Mardi Gras ball filled with New Orleans traditions all with a special military twist. And during the ball, our Krewe hosts one of the most important parts of our charitable mission — the Parade of Prizes, or what we lovingly call ‘POP.’

POP is our silent auction and donation rally, and 100% of everything raised goes right back to military-connected organizations in the New Orleans area. Here’s a quick look at the incredible groups we support:

Bastion Community of Resilience

Bastion believes No Veteran Heals Alone. Their new Veterans Wellness Center creates a place where veterans can find community, cost-free resources, support, and connection — helping ensure no one slips through the cracks.

Young Marines of Plaquemines Parish

This youth program opens doors for young Marines through education, training, service projects, field trips, and leadership-building experiences — all provided at no cost thanks to community support.

New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy – NOMMA

NOMMA is a college-prep charter school serving grades 8–12, where every student is a Marine Corps JROTC cadet. They focus on academics, character, leadership, and preparing students for success as future leaders.

U.S. Naval Sea Cadets – Andrew J. Higgins Squadron

The Sea Cadets program challenges high school students to grow through hands-on training, teamwork, discipline, and leadership — all grounded in Navy core values.

The Military Officers' Wives' Club (MOWC) of the Greater New Orleans is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. MOWC and the Krewe of CAMAN are not part of the Department of War or any of its components and have no governmental status. Military Officers' Wives' Club of the Greater New Orleans Area and Krewe of CAMAN are not part of the Department of War or any of its components and have no governmental status.
